Every stitch, a labour of love
Every piece in our summer collection is handcrafted at 5stitch studio, a community-driven workshop dedicated to preserving the heritage art of hand-spinning, weaving and printing. The Rhea, Aurora and Maya dresses carry the hand of 5th-generation National Award-Winning artisans of the Medatwal family in Bagru
The Artemis Dress fuses handloom denim with Ajrakh godet panels a 16-step plant-based dyeing process involving complex geometry and multiple resist-dyeing stages. The Maya Maxi begins as a heritage Maheshwari saree and is reborn into a multi-tiered gown through Dabu mud-resist printing. Each handmade summer dress carries a story you can wear.
A note on variation: Because every piece is made by hand, subtle differences in pattern, dye depth and fabric texture are not flaws; they are the fingerprints of the artisan who made your garment.

You can shop our handmade summer collection directly at charkhaandloom.com. Every piece is handcrafted at 5stitch studio in Jaipur and ships worldwide from our Amsterdam atelier. We currently offer 11 pieces in the summer collection handmade dresses, co-ord sets and bags, made in small batches of 3 to 5 per design.
Each design is produced in small batches of just 3 to 5 pieces. Once a piece sells out, it may not be reproduced — and even when restocked, subtle variations in dye, weave and embroidery mean no two are ever identical. This is the nature of handmade clothing.
Our handmade summer dresses are designed for breathable, easy movement. Most pieces have a relaxed silhouette with adjustable waistlines, smock bodices or drawstring details. Each product page includes a full size guide with measurements in cm and inches. If you're between sizes, we recommend sizing up for a softer drape.
The collection uses six fabric families: 100% handloom khadi cotton (Penelope Set, Desert Rose, Artemis), Chanderi silk-cotton blend (Aurora), Maheshwari silk-cotton blend (Maya), 75/25 cotton-linen (Delia), 100% cotton (Rhea, Venus) and 100% cotton denim (Dolce Far Niente Bag). No synthetic blends. No mass-produced base fabrics.
Block print is a hand-stamped textile technique where carved wooden blocks transfer dye onto fabric, one stamp at a time. Our block print summer dresses include the Rhea (Bagru block print on cotton), the Aurora (block print on Chanderi silk) and the Venus Tie Top (Dabu mud-resist block print). All are hand-printed by 5th-generation Medatwal family artisans in Bagru, Rajasthan.
Yes. We ship handmade summer dresses to the United Kingdom, all of Europe and worldwide. UK and EU orders typically arrive within 3/7 business days from our Amsterdam atelier. Shipping is free on UK orders over £150. Full delivery details are at checkout.
We offer 14-day returns on all summer collection pieces. Items must be unworn, unwashed and returned in original condition. Because each piece is handmade, we recommend reviewing the size guide carefully before ordering and reaching out to our team if you'd like fit advice on a specific piece.
Most pieces can be gently hand-washed in cold water with pH-neutral soap, or dry cleaned. Always dry in the shade direct sunlight can fade hand-dyed pigments and embroidery. Each product page includes care notes specific to the fabric. With proper care, handmade khadi cotton and Chanderi silk soften beautifully over time and last for years.
